One of the first text types ESL student have to master is an article.
The tasks are usually very straightforward; they deal with the daily-life topics and do not expect deep subject knowledge on nay topic. The length of the text is not ambitious, neither is the word count.
What many students find hard is the style. Make it too formal, and it is not suitable for a school magazine, keep it too colloquial and it is a miss again. Practice makes perfect, but in this case reading may help just as well, not mentioning teacher’s feedback on one’s writing.
To make the writing process easier, I provide my students with the checklist which is meant to provide the answers to their most basic questions and settle the doubts regarding the structure and formal requirements.
